Tomb Kings Skeleton Archers

Here's a look at the handful of skeleton archers I recently finished and added to my slowly growing Tomb kings army...

The painting of my remaining Tomb Kings models has been slow going, but I managed to finish the first ten archers with their unit champion.

All the extra clothing really adds to the painting time, and I was beginning to second guess my color choices on the unit. I initially didn't have any uniformity to their skirts– I painted some with a red outer layer and black inner layer, and had some that were all red or all black, and thought it looked too mismatched. In the end, I repainted some to get them all with a red inner layer and black outer layer, which made them much more uniform and also matched Tomb Prince Selketta's clothing pattern (a red skirt with a black cape).

You can see how I strung the bows in the post Modeling Tutorial: Bow Strings.

Here's the army so far. I've still got 20 more skeleton archers and five horse archers to go to finish off my initial 1000 points. I was hoping to have them finished this year, but that's definitely not in the cards. Finishing these guys will definitely be at the top of my to-do list for 2025.

'Til next time!

  1. Hi Rob, great work on these. Color scheme is working really well imo. Are the skirts on the archers a kitbash? They look awesome, where are they from?

    1. Thank you! The skirts are the skirted legs from the plastic Grave Guard. I've cut off the armored feet and replaced them with skeleton feet. (I think I have a previous post about the conversion work.)
