Terrain Showcase: Wild West Exodus Harbor

Welcome to the image gallery for the Wild West Exodus-themed harbor! This is a game board that I was commissioned to build for Warcradle Studios. It was on display in their booth at Gencon 2018, where it was used for demo games, and now I am able to present it here in all its glory. I kept a log of its construction, and you can view those posts under this link: Project Log: WWX Harbor, or via the same label in the sidebar.

The board was built in two halves, with the harbor walls, steps, tracks, and wooden dock all modeled onto it.

The watch tower and buildings are separate components. Magnets embedded in the table and under their bases hold them securely in place and allow for the different elements to be removed without affecting the appearance of the board surface.

I also made a small tugboat, a crane, and several piles of cargo that help fill out the scene.

The centerpiece is the three foot-long ironclad ship that sits in the harbor, complete with gangway ramps to allow access to the vessel.

Warcradle Studios provided detailed concept art, and I endeavored to make the board as faithful to their artwork as possible. This was one of my most challenging projects to date. I'll let the rest of the photos speak for themselves. Enjoy!
