Protectorate

Welcome to my Protectorate of Menoth gallery! This is my oldest Warmachine army, which I've been collecting since 2003. As I update the gallery, new images will be added at the top of the page. If you have questions about anything you see, please shoot me an email or post a comment. Enjoy!

    1. Thanks, Tim! The whites are layered up over a black undercoat. I start with GW Snakebite Leather, wash it with GW Brown Ink, and then build it up with more Snakebite, P3 Moldy Ochre, Menoth White Base, Menoth White Highlight, and finally Morrow White.

As I move through each color stage, I do a little blending, or use a 50/50 mix between each pair of colors. It's sort of an organic process, and much more complicated than it probably needs to be. That's why lately I've been trying to work in as much red as possible.

    2. Your fire of salvation model looks great. It seems less squat than others ive seen. Has there been any conversion work done on it? I really want a FoS but have been put off by the high price tag and comments that it is a little small compared to the new plastic 'jacks. Comments?

    3. Thanks! The model is indeed converted– It uses the center portion of the metal hull from the Guardian, with the FoS's shoulders. The head is a converted metal Crusader head, the banners are from the Exemplar Seneschal, and the mace has been enhanced with brass rod and sculpted fire.

  3. Hello. Always with great interest and pleasure to follow your work.I have started painting the choir of Menoth and I really need your advice. If I try paint P3 Rhulic Gold direct on black primer. If I paint P3 Rhulic Gold on black even with a thick layer, the black still shows through the gold. Do you use any undercoat prior to paint gold? Thanks in advance.

    1. Hi! Gold it tough to paint over black. What I'd recommend is painting a thin layer of P3 Umbral Umber over the black. Then apply Rhulic Gold over that. You can even mix a little of the Umbral Umber with the Rhulic Gold to give it a little more opacity. Then, add a little Solid Gold with Rhulic Gold to brighten it up some. Keep the layers thin so they don't clump up and obscure the detail.
