Here's a look at my finished Kanan miniature and how the rest of my Rebels project is coming along.
As with Hera, I used the show and style guide to get the colors right (although his armor seems a little dark in this image when compared with a screen shot.
The new lightsaber painted up quickly.
I'm mot sure how I feel about the recessed icon on the shoulder armor. I feel like it made it more difficult to paint than if it was a raised image. It turned out alright in the end, though.
One detail from the show that I always appreciated, and that Atomic Mass Games captured, is that Kanan has the same model blaster that Luke uses in Jabba's throne room (taken from one of Jabba's guards).
I finished up the bases for the remaining crew members:
I was hoping to have Zeb finished by now, but he doesn't have any "standard" colors on him. It was a struggle to match the green-gold on the sides of his jumpsuit. His skin tone is tricky too– I was afraid of making it too purple. The colors I went with are Army Painter Ash Grey and white for the basecoat, drybrushed up with a little more white, and shaded with GW Dreadful Visage Contrast. It's getting there; I still need to paint the stripes.
I'm also planning to make a small backdrop for photography and display. Last year I made some Imperial-themed scenery forAtomicMassGameswhich you may have seen in their socials:
I'll talk about this scenery in a future post, but the walls were created with some scratch-built panels that were resin cast, and I'll be using the leftovers to make a section of Death Star corridor for my Rebels.
'Til next time!
