Terrain Showcase: The Watchtower

This week, I finished off the watchtower; let's take a look!

This marks the completion of my watchtower project log series. If you want to see the previous steps in this scenery build, you can check out the other installments here– Project Log: Watchtower. The tower evolved from just a simple build of the kit to a major sculpting and kitbashing ordeal. I wasn't sure about the direction it was headed at times, but in the end, I'm really pleased with how it turned out!

The components were all painted with the same color palette and techniques that I used for my Warscryer Citadel. You can see the process for the painting in the Warscryer Citadel project log.

I think the shrine at the base of the tower is my favorite part. I wasn't sure how to fill the hole at the base of the tower where I had cut it apart from the rocks, but this came out better than I could have hoped, and really ties in with my undead-themed scenery.

The bats living under the "fangs" of the observation deck serve as messengers, relaying danger back to the main keep if the sentinels on watch spot an approaching enemy.

The watchtower complements the Warscryer Citadel and observatory, making a nice little complex of buildings. Thanks for following along this this project! With the tower finished, I'll be able to move on to the large mausoleums I'm planning to make out of the Bonetithe Nexus and Sigmarite Mausoleum set.

'Til next time!
