Hobby Bingo 2020 Mid-Year Update

Checking in with my mid-year progress on the Wargame Hobby Bingo card!

It's been slow going so far this year, but I've got a lot of irons in the fire. All of the red squares are completed–

Finish a model that's been on your do-do pile for more than a year–

The Spirit hosts were finished a few months back when I kicked my Nighthaunt army into full gear.

Make something for your hobby that's not for the battlefield–

Also for my Nighthaunt army, the magnetic carrying case fits this category.

Add a new unit to your army and completely paint it before using it on the battlefield–
I've finished this squad of five Necron Deathmarks well before they will ever see combat.

Convert a model–

My new Immortals were converted to match the style of the older figures. I was going to use the reposed Necron Warrior models for this category, but I think I'll save them for something else.

Make a 2' x 2' battlefield section or army display board with integrated terrain–

This one is also finished, but as it was for a commission and I can't show pictures of it yet, you'll have to take my word for it. But don't worry, I 'll have a whole blog post about it once I get the okay.

So that's only five squares checked off over six months. Not a very productive start, and I've got a lot of catching up to do if I want to fill the entire card. The blue squares are projects that I'm currently working on:

Scratch-build a piece of scenery–
This one is for the Watchtower. Painting is in progress and I'll have some gallery photos one of these days...

Paint a monster–
I finally picked up the Skaven Verminlord kit, and I'm working up a tutorial for magnetizing (or possibly pinning) the arms so it can swap between the different variations of Verminlord.

Paint a unit and add scenic bases for all the models–

The Myrmourn Banshees are still on my painting desk. I'll get around to finishing them one of these days...

Build and paint 3 pieces of scenery themed to match the same battlefield aesthetic–
I've been itching to build a batch of scenery using the Bonetithe Nexus and Sigmarite Mausoleum, and as soon as the watchtower is finished, that will be my next terrain project.

The Grey squares are ones that I've got plans for but haven't started yet:

Paint a vehicle–

I had teased these Gaslands cars a while back, but the shutdown pretty much killed my prospects of getting together to game. I still want to paint tiny "Mad Max" cars though!

Build and paint a scenery kit / Build and paint a thematic marker to represent a spell, etc.–
I have the Flesh-eater Courts Charnel Throne and endless spells for these two categories. They're fun little kits that I'm sure I can turn into months-long conversion slogs!

Finish a model within 48 hours–
I'm looking forward to the new Necron models on the horizon; and I'm sure I can knock something out pretty quickly. If GW puts out a faction box with the new models in it, I'll be able to check that box too. We'll just have to wait to see what's in store...

'Til next time!
