Vampire Queen Olivia von Koss

My floating vampire queen is finally finished! Here's a look at her and how she came together:

 

 

This model and the story of her resurrection has been in the making for over a year, but it began back in 2018 when I converted the Choir of Death–

 

 

Olivia was murdered by the general of the Legion of the Infernal Skull, Seth von Koss, and damned to roam the catacombs as a banshee. That portion of her story was set during the time of the World-That-Was, and you can read about it in this post:

After the End Times, the Banshee Queen found herself summoned by the wraith Korak the Grim to serve in his Congregation of the Crimson Shroud during the Age of Sigmar.

 

 

I wanted to convert a unique vampire with Lady Olynder, and some of the newer female vampire models that GW was putting out. I thought it would be a great opportunity to advance the story of what had so far been a relatively minor background character in the lore of my armies.

Back in February of 2022, I built the model for an updated "vampire" version of Olivia. You can see that project in these posts:

I actually started painting her in the summer of 2022, and finished her base when I painted Luthor Vogstihl (my bat-cloaked vampire).

 

 

Then she sat on the shelf for almost a year. In that time, I started writing the Resurrection narrative, which I used to showcase some new models for my Nighhthaunt army and tell the story of how Olivia was able to subvert Korak's plan to her own ends and reconstitute herself in a more powerful physical form. The Resurrection story is all together here.

So here's the new Vampire Queen all her glory– I ended up re-priming her with white so I could paint her with a "wedding dress" motif which sets her apart from my other red-and-black vampires and evokes a bit of her ethereal past. I originally wanted to have her dress splattered with blood, but decided against it. I was afraid of ruining all the work I had done and, in the end, I think she looks more regal without it. I just muddied up the ends of her dress a bit where they were dragging along the ground.

 

 

I'm still working out where her story will go from here– The object of her vengeance, Seth von Koss, surely would have been destroyed during the End Times, so she'll have to find somewhere else to direct her rage. Maybe being trapped in a ghostly half-existence has clouded her perception, and she isn't even aware that the world ended? If so, what will happen when she finds out where (and when) she really is? I'm sure Korak isn't too pleased with her anymore, so she'll definitely have problems if he ever gets his hands on her. Only time will tell...
