Wargame Hobby Bingo Mid-Year Check-In

Taking a look at the progress I've made on my Wargame Hobby Bingo card so far this year:

I've only completed six squares so far, so even though I've been plugging away at my Tomb Kings backlog, I'm only about a quarter of the way through the card.

Paint a Monster–

The tomb scorpion is an easy one, but a small monster still counts!

Convert a Model Into a Different Unit or Character–

Saheksis the Necrotect fills this slot, converted from a Tomb King.

Paint a Model and Incorporate a Technique You Haven't Mastered–

Non-metallic metal isn't really my bag, but I've been trying it on my Tomb King Banners. I think the gold banner icons turned out pretty successfully.

Completely Paint a New Unit Before Using it on the Battlefield–

At this stage in my hobby career, I pretty much get everything painted before using it, but I'm counting the horse archers for this one.

Sculpt Something on a Model–

This spot goes to the wolf pelts on my feral ghouls.

Build and Paint a Scenery Kit–

I've put together some of the Skull Forge Scenics Ruined Graveyard Wall kits to build some much-needed low linear obstacles for my games.

The blue squares represent projects that are already in the works, or upcoming:

I pretty much convert every model I build now, so the Convert a Model square is kind of my default.

Paint a Model or Unit in a Color You Don't Normally Use–

The Ghost Crew have a lot of orange, green, and purple, colors that rarely cross my palette.

Build and Paint Some Accessories Themed to Match Your Army–

I'm working on some spell counters for my Vampire Counts. These two are markers for the Spirit Leech spell, made with the hair from Lady Olynder's attendants, and faces cut from the spirits that used to be attached to my Morghasts' wings.

Scratch-Build a Piece of Scenery–

I ordered a copy of Demon Ship, and I'll be building a small 6" x 6" board board to play it on. Really looking forward to trying out this game!

Paint a Unit and Add Scenic Bases For All the Models–

My Sepulchral Stalkers have scenic elements on their bases, and I'm hoping to have them finished soon.

Well, back to work!

'Til next time!

  1. Love this idea, there’s quite a few in there that I wouldn’t necessarily do by default but would like to try. I may need to do this myself!

    1. Go for it! Even if it motivates you to try just one new technique or finish one project it's worth it! :)
