Nighthaunt Army Progression

Time to check in on how my Nighthaunt army has shaped up over the course of the year:

In January, I had a sizable batch of Nighthaunt models in my painting queue:

I've managed to get through most of them. Kurdoss and one unit of Spirit Hosts are all that remain from this initial shot. I've added a bunch of Grimghast Reapers, but I need to pick up a box to round them off at 20 because of the odd numbert hat come in the starter set. Everything else has come together to make a nice 1000-point army (give or take).

Korak the Grim and his personal retinue, The Crimson Reapers, were the fist named character and unit that I had built for Warhammer Fantasy, so it's fitting that they make up the backbone of Korak's new army in The Age of Sigmar.

Now a Chainrasp Horde, these new Crimson Reapers were all converted to carry scythes, just as they had been in their previous incarnation.

The Crimson Reapers are joined by the Hexwraiths and rebased Spirit Hosts:

Korak's Lieutenants include the Choir of Death Banshees and a Guardian of Souls:

The most recent addition is this small unit of Glaivewraith Stalkers:

The leader was converted to have a "screaming skull" rather than a "deathbeat drum" to direct the unit. I wasn't a fan of the drum and the fact that the drummer didn't carry a glaive.

These models are from the unit box with the blue plastic and modeled bases, which allows me to check a box on my Wargame Hobby Bingo card for painting a unit and adding scenic bases on all of them. I'll eventually fill out the Glaivewraith Stalkers' numbers with models from the Age of Sigmar starter set, but for now they make a nice little unit that I can use to screen a character or hold an objective.

Next year, I'll expand the army with Grimghast Reapers and some of the other support characters. I'm looking forward to building the Black Coach, too.

'Til next time!
